Thursday Debate: "Don't Ask, Dont Tell"

This week for the Thursday Debate, I want you to do research on the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Policy. The "Don"t Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT) Policy restricts openly expressed homosexuals to join the Armed Forces. This Law has become big in the news for the last few weeks so it won't be hard to find. Leave your opinions in the comment box.

See my opinion of last weeks debate in the comments.

Tuesday quick tip

After a winter of hibernation, your grill is ready to start cooking again. But it might have goop and grime on it that's difficult to remove now. To easily clean it, wrap the grill rack completely in aluminum foil and fire up the grill. Let the wrapped grill rack cook for 30 minutes, and then after it cools, pull the rack out; you'll find that the debris has fallen to the bottom of the foil and can be thrown out.

Debate Thursday: Keystone XL Pipeline closes, College football playoffs opens

It's that time of the week again, it's debate Thursday. Last week I told you to do research on the Keystone XL Pipeline. I did my research and this is what I have decided. The Keystone XL Pipeline has a much greater risk of a leak than a normal United States pipeline. It uses thinner steel, weaker steel all at a higher pressure. You are probably wondering about the U.S. guidelines, well they are using Canada's guidelines. Leave your thoughts in the comment box below and I will hapilly read them.

This week for he Thursday debate, ' Should college football have playoffs?'

Debate Thursday: Keystone XL Pipeline

Sorry I've been gone for over a month, just been busy. So it has come to my attention that there is a proposed oil pipeline to go through all of America and dump off in Houston. After that, it just goes back to Canada. Between today and 7 days from today, I want you to do research on this and leave a comment on what you think. I will post my own opinion in the meantime, but not now so that will not effect your opinion.

My new iPod touch

So I hot my new iPod touch on Tuesday and I love it! It is so great with 32gb. A word of advice from me, spend the extra $20 or so to get double the space. The new third generation doesn't have much difference than the second generation so if u wanna get the most out of your money, get a higher gb second generation and update the program regularly.

John Tesh is the man

Looking for good shows on the radio? Look and see if you can find John Tesh on a radio station that you can pick up. John Tesh does a radio show called "Intelligence for Your Life" and the show has great, random information to help you live better. A lot of the stuff he does on there is saving money or news topics that he finds interesting. But what makes his radio show cool, is that he states how you can benefit someone else or yourself through the information. Check it out at the link that I have attached here.

Instead of the PS3 or Xbox 360...

I decided that I'm going to get a 3rd generation ipod touch. I even got it for 32gb which will be ALOT for someone like me. But I'm sure that the space will come in handy. This is what I got for the money I made for pulling weeds in a soybean field.

Cool thing I found, it's a calculator that calculates your age in days (I found out that I turned 5,000 days old 3 days ago). Heres the link: http://www.peterrussell.com/age.php.

If there are any cool apps that I should get, reply in the comment box and I'll check them out.

Xbox 360 or Playstation 3

So, I know that most everyone has an opinion on this topic. Tell me what you think. Give me good information, because I am planning on buying one.

Busy this Summer

Sorry I havn't been able to post all summer, I'm just so busy and when I'm not, someone is already on the computer. I've got to go to three different camps away from town. I got a short term job this last week- I'm pulling weeds in a soybean field for an organic farmer with about twelve others. We get to start again next week, I'd say I like what I'm getting paid and just the job overall. I also like the idea that I am taking care of weeds instead of chemicals. I just don't like the idea of chemicals in my food, it's proven that food treated with chemicals (which are most of your foods) can cause many inflamitory diseases- diabetes, asthma, and even cancer. That's why I kind of like to lean towards organic foods.

Check out this cool site, it's called Stumble Upon, and what it does is finds cool sites, articles, pictures, and/or videos. If you find any cool things on there, just leave a comment with the link on it and I will try to post it in the meantime. http://www.stumbleupon.com/

Pre step 1: Rubik's Cube

So I'm going to start with teaching the Rubik's Cube. Although what I'm saying may seem REALLY complicated, just try to follow along. You might be thinking that each side will be identified by it's color, but they will be mostly identified by how you are holding the cube- the front, up (top), down (bottom), front, left, and right sides. You use the sides to make moves, so if I say up (U), you turn the up side clockwise. If I say up inverted (Ui), turn the up side counter-clockwise (if it helps to learn the moves, move the cube to face your way to see which way to turn it). That will basically make up your algorithms. If you start practicing these moves, the video will be a breeze.

Still working on the video for next week

P.S. If you have anything you want me to post about, just leave a note in the comment box.

Very beginning of solving the Rubik's Cube

You should work with your Rubik's Cube for at least an hour if you want to be able to follow the video without problems. Just work on making one side for now, and when you think about the colors of the cube, think of them as seperate cubes, not stickers (for example, look at the whole piece that you have, like that the same pieces that you use to make the first side are the same pieces for the first row, they just share stickers). So just keep working with the cube for now, and just see where you can get.

Still working on the video for next week.

Some cool websites

I have found a bunch of cool websites, try them out.

www.blackle.com- It's a Google custom search engine that has a black screen to save energy.
www.alexa.com- find out website ratings and popularity.
www.wheresgeorge.com- Enter a dollar bill's year and serial number to find out where it's been and where it goes after that (you have to be VERY patient though).

I can't really think of any more at the moment, but if I remember, I will put them on later posts. If you know a cool website, put it in the comment box and I'll check it out.

Next week: The basics to solving a rubik's cube (will most likely be done by the 4th of July)
